We are still one of the very few company’s in Scotland that still weaves tartans using silk as the raw material because it is quite a difficult and time consuming material to work with , but when you see silk tartan in the end product I feel it is worth all the effort that is put into weaving silk. One of the disadvantages using silk is the high price that it hold over wool and for this reason we do not carry the same amount of colours as we do in wool and therefore cannot guarantee an exact match when weaving silk but we try and get as close as we can.
Our silk can be ordered as a woven length measuring 30 inches wide and the length that the customer needs for there required use. We have seen our silk tartan being used in wedding ceremonies , neck ties and bow ties , we have even seen it on the back of some world famous snooker players.
